The trees are beginning to reveal their outlines, afternoons call for an extra layer, but a November spent upstate still has plenty to offer. Local film festivals, Restaurant Week, Judy Collins at the Bardavon and the first holiday markets are just a few of the events to look forward to.

The Stissing Center opens the month with its second annual festival of short films by local and regional filmmakers. Screenings include Q&As with the creators, offering a chance to hear how the films came together and ask a few questions of your own. The programme runs from 3–6pm, leaving time for a wander around Pine Plains before taking your seat.
Hudson Valley Restaurant Week

For two weeks, participating restaurants across the Hudson Valley offer prix fixe menus for brunch, lunch and dinner. It’s a useful excuse to book somewhere you’ve been meaning to try, or return to a favourite.

Friday evening performances and weekend matinees offer a few ways to build it into a Rhinebeck visit.
